the gregg araki world

if we had to put him down to a general equation it would be:

teenagers on acids + sex without specific orientation + conspiracy

kaboom

after watching the  first half an hour, i found the gregg araki pattern. kaboom is definitly the old pattern of gregg araki, it resembles nowhere with better filming and quality but always with some kind of conspiracy theory with weird elements that want to attack a group of crazy and addicted to sex teenagers. there is a borderline between crazy sexy teenagers and conspiracy elements pulled to the maximum almost ridiculous. of course, after watching nowhere this really comes as a huge evolution (well, we are talking 13 years afterwards of course...) not only in "special effects" improvement but also a control over the extreme/ridiculous elements. and it was quite a surprise seeing juno temple and of course james duval trigged nowhere in the first time he appeared. 

it is definitly  not a movie for everyone, only for open-mided and independent movies lovers. and even inside that group, only people who will not take seriously the time spend watching it.

i saw this one over an year ago on a bus trip between bremen (germany) and groningen (netherlands). well, anna faris, this girl's gift is to do this crazy stupid movies in which she has all the credibility on doing it (films such as house of bunny and scary movie). this i would say is a mix between "harold & kumar go to white castle" and "scary movie" with a bit of "pinneaple express". 

mysterious skin

this is an amazing movie, one of my favourites (and my favourite from gregg araki), and my favourite role of joseph gordon-levitt. it is a heavy movie about a teenager who was abused as a child and its crossing path with a teenager obsessed with alien abductions. it is a drama that goes far away from the natural pattern of gregg araki, even though there is the conspiracy and the gay factor, it is a drama and not a group on teenagers on  acid. 

i strongly recommend this movie to any type of movie lovers, just be aware of the strong scenes. it is anything but an easy movie to watch.

nowhere

the fucked up youth of the 90s on acid with aliens on the mix. the best and more accurate description for this movie.
