a serie of science lessons given by the english biologist richard dawkins in the royal institution. since my level of science knowledge is pretty low and i'm kind of curious and kind of worship richard dawkins, this is a pretty nice programme to learn something and remember what i learnt before. when i saw this programme i could only think that this was the education everyone should have in science, not the intelligent design that cannot even be considered as a scientific theory.
this is probably the most interesting documentary i saw yesterday. the atheism tapes by jonathan miller are a collection of interviews to the greatest minds in the world about their position regarding religion. as an atheist, i found it very interesting the beliefs, the reasons, and the analytical point of view of the religions. unfortunetly, i have only seen the philosopher daniel dennett and the physicist nobel prize winner steven weinberg but i will be watching the remaining interviewees. in terms of the interview to daniel dennett i found interesting his explanations of the arguments against and for the existence of god, and his philosophical perspective, but more than that the explanation of his turning point from being a religious person that studied all the bible to a non-believer, and even more interesting the fact that he still uses the bible as a morality source without the theological part. regarding steven weinberg, the most relevant matter relates to the power to harm of religion, and the division in science between religious and non religious scientists. finally, i started watching the playwriter arthur miller, which pointed his perspective from judaism religion he was raised in. it is a good documentary to people who are interested in the matter, if not you're going to find it boring.
honestly, i was pretty disappointed with the approach that richard dawkins follows in this documentary. i found it seriously lame although the content was pretty interesting, especially due to the explanation of darwin's perspective. but i guess it is just because the target audience is not me.
i also saw a documentary called "can i get high legally?" about the position and effects of legal drugs in the uk. i found interesting some information that you get in touch with, and the host is pretty good looking which makes it a documentary to pass the time and learn a little bit.
