i am really impressed with magritte's work. i knew the name but i did not recognize or know any of its actual paintings which i got to see on one of my classes which made me feel interested enough to look for more. unfortunetly i have been looking for the painting that triggered my interest but i cannot find good quality pictures online of it. despite that i decided just to leave some of my favourites especially the last one which for me is the most meaningful one although the reproduction prohibited really catches my eye.
cinema: recently i saw this one and i think the plot is very interesting and the expression of amanda seyfried is amazing, her body language is mainly the key of this movie. i would not put it in my favourite movies list but i would give some credit to the actors and the director.
music: tindersticks, definitly. after so much partying and the typical not good music of bars, i managed to find this band and got addicted to their song 'cherry blossoms' which is the song for the trailer of 'unmade beds'. the voice, the mood is addictive, melancholic and it creeps my skin while i listen to it.
i also started listening to au revoir simone after some years of hearing about it and never doing nothing about it. and i must say i really enjoy it.
my two recent band addictions i would say definitly queens of the stone age which i am madly in love with and mgmt, which basicly i stick to 3 songs since after listening to them the rest of the album lets you down.
books: unfortunetly i could not read the last pages of one of miguel sousa tavares' books, 'no teu deserto' which i must say it is okay if we consider his previous books which i love, so i really have to say that i would expect more from him although i am still looking forward to read the other books that i have not read from him.
i have also been reading and almost finishing the book 'nas tuas mãos' from inês pedrosa, which really impressed me. i have always been told that she is a good writer but i would not expect that kind of writing from her which i really love and makes me feel like writing everyday. i loved especially the wat the story is told through three different generations from the same line of family and see their own perspectives of each other.
now, after one week of everyday getting wasted and dancing i am finally starting to be productive again. i can only advise everyone to visit holland in the week of the april 30th, the most craziest and coolest days happen i have never seen something like it. people sitting in the windows all over town, matresses and coaches on the streets, a whole city dressed in orange and saying cheers from the moment they are awake until they fall asleep somewhere.
